Programs for Kids

Children can enjoy lots of programs designed just for you!

Most of them run throughout the school year.  With our TD Summer Reading Program in July.

Begins during Ontario Library Week, October 20th with all entries due by Nov. 30th, 2024.

Contest Rules:

One entry per person.
Entries must be designed on cardstock templates provided.
Entries must have a reading/book theme.
Please write your name, age and phone number on the back of your bookmark.

Our Children’s Librarian Karen DeJong is happy to answer any questions, just reach out or stop by the library.

Toddler Time – Will RESTART on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 10am!

Toddler Time is a program is for all littles, ages birth – 3 and their caregivers and begins at 10 every Thursday morning during the school year. Join us for stories, songs and Makerspace activities! There is no need to register for this program, just drop in!

Lego Club
Junior starts Wednesday October 2, 2024
Senior starts Wednesday October 9, 2024

Look for Junior and Senior Builders to begin again in October! Jr Builders runs the first Weds of every month from 6:30 – 7:30 pm for kids ages 4-8.

Sr Builders is the second Weds of every month from 6:30 – 7:30 pm and is for kids ages 9 – 12. Join us for exciting new LEGO building challenges!

Please contact the library to register your kiddos and for more information.

Craft Kits

Seasonal craft kits are available for pick up at the library.
Thanksgiving Craft Kits will be available Tuesday, October 1st.
Halloween Craft Kits will be available Tuesday, October 15th. All craft kits are free.

Be sure to stop by and pick one up!

Sensory Play Backpacks

Thanks to a very generous donation by Thousand Islanders Chorus, we have been able to put together two backpacks filled with sensory toys and books for kids. Come by and check them out!

Backpack Program

These are available for ages 3 to 11 years.

Themed family backpacks filled with books for a variety of reading levels, craft kits, a movie and  fun activity sheets.

Outdoor Mapsacks filled with all things outdoors. Different themes are available. This program has been made available through The Mapsack Project – Where literacy meets Nature. Mapsacks have passes to Ontario Parks and Rideau Conservation Authority.
